Dr Tegan Stewart

Rehabilitation Physician – MBBS, FAFRM (RACP)

Dr Tegan Stewart grew up in rural Far North Queensland and attained her medical degree at James Cook University, Townsville. She moved to the Sunshine Coast to complete her specialist training across a mixture of public and private Rehabilitation clinics and inpatient facilities in the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane areas.

Dr Tegan is experienced in and enjoys all areas of general Rehabilitation Medicine, with her special interest area being chronic disability management, specifically the monitoring, prevention and management of disease-related complications such as spasticity, pain and fatigue (etc) in the context of:

  • Spinal cord injury
  • Amputation
  • Persistent pain & musculoskeletal injuries/conditions
  • Acquired brain injury (including stroke, traumatic brain injury and concussion)
  • neurological and neurodegenerative conditions

She is passionate about disability advocacy and helping patients manage their unique health challenges to enable them to live the life they want to lead and to achieve the life goals that are important to them.

In order to ensure that her patients receive the community-based support and equipment they require to help them achieve their goals, Dr Tegan is able to complete a specialist assessment and letter of support/recommendation to agencies such as NDIS, NIISQ.

Outside of work, Dr Tegan enjoys spending time with her family and friends, serving her local church community, making music, and – when she has time – writing romance novels. She also tries to keep physically active by walking her dog or swimming at the local community pool, especially in the month of February each year when she joins the Starlight Foundation’s “Super Swim Challenge” to raise money for sick children.

If you are experiencing any of the above conditions and think you might benefit from my expertise, I would be very honoured to accept a referral from your GP and become part of your health management team.
